Providing strategic services to campus partners to advance the College’s branding, recruitment, and retention goals.
The Office of Marketing and Communications reaches a diverse audience through a mix of storytelling and distribution across a complex ecosystem of websites and channels. Our goal is to tell the Northland story and offer our audiences opportunities to engage with the Northland brand.
Before requesting a project, please read the rules and guidelines.
Project Review Guidelines
The project request form gathers important details about your project so that we can determine whether we are able to take on the request as well as deliver a strong product.
All projects are subject to review and will be considered based on the context of college priorities, timing, and capacity, including the following factors:
- Is the project mission-critical?
- Does the project support a Northland strategic priority?
- Does the project generate revenue?
- What is the visibility, reach, and longevity of the project?
- Timeliness: Advanced notice allows for better planning, product, and marketing. Projects with larger scope require more advanced notice—projects with less than a 1-week notice risk automatic denial.
The right to accept, alter or deny requests is based on scope of the project, strategic impact, and staff resources; also, depending on scope, budget, or Northland policies, some projects may need advance approval from Administration or the appropriate college authority. Completing this form does not guarantee your project will be accepted. If a project is denied, you will be provided with a list of pre-approved vendors who may assist with your project or DIY-branded template files. (NOTE: Third-party vendors will also require sufficient lead time.)
Lead Time
In order to review and consider your project, please submit a project request a minimum of two (2) business weeks prior to the desired completion date. This timing does not include printing and mailing. Allow for at least ten business days if printing and mailing are required. The production schedule does not start until all content is received (unless Marketing & Communications will be creating/co-creating the content). If you are within a two (2) week window, you will need to contact Marketing & Communications prior to submitting your work order.
Timelines will be determined based on scope of the project. The designated point of contact is expected to provide prompt and timely feedback. Failure to do so may result in project delays or cancellation.
NOTE: Projects are not accepted for student organizations or non-Northland entities.
