Prepare for Enrollment

A great deal goes into preparing for your arrival at Northland Community & Technical College. Please use the steps below to help guide you through our enrollment process.

Step #1: Apply to Northland Community & Technical College

Students can apply using our online application. After applying, submit your High School Transcripts/GED.

Do you have Transfer Credits? If they are from another Minnesota State College or University, complete an eTranscript Request Form to request an evaluation. If you have other credits, please submit official transcripts for evaluation. Finally, complete and return an immunization form to Northland. (See Minnesota’s College Immunization Law.)

Step #2: Apply for Financial Aid & Scholarships

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Apply early to ensure financial aid is complete prior to the beginning of the semester.

Northland’s FAFSA code is 002385

After completing the FAFSA, apply for Northland scholarships. If you are eligible for Veteran benefits, contact the Veteran Resource Center.

Step #3: Inquire if an assessment is required.

Northland uses ACT, SAT, Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA), and/or high school GPA, or previous college coursework to determine course placement. If placement can’t be determined using these measures, an Accuplacer assessment is needed.

Step #4: Register for Courses With Your Assigned Advisor

Students are to meet with their designated academic advisor, who will help guide them in selecting the appropriate courses to achieve their educational and career objectives and connect with the various campus resources.
