Graduation is not automatic; ALL STUDENTS MUST APPLY TO GRADUATE even if they do not intend to participate in the commencement ceremony.

Grad Prep Event

We invite you to Grad Prep on the East Grand Forks campus.
- All graduates are invited, whether you plan on attending the commencement ceremony or not.
- Caps and gowns will be available for you to pick up during these times, courtesy of the Student Senate. You do not need to place an order ahead of time.
- At Grad Prep, you can meet with Financial Aid, request transcripts be sent to your next institution, and meet with the Alumni and Foundation department.
- Get ready for your graduation by taking fun photos with friends and props in our photo booth. You can capture all the excitement with glasses, headbands, and more!
- Refreshments will be available.
- We kindly ask all commencement participants to attend one of the Grad Prep sessions. If you are unable to attend, limited caps and gowns will be available at Student Services areas on each campus. If you require a special accommodation, please email graduation@northlandcollege.edu.
Commencement Information
Commencement Assembly Process
- Graduate candidates must arrive by 10:00 a.m. at the Chester Fritz Auditorium – lower level to allow for the assembly process.
- Please pick up your name card at the check-in table in the lower level. You will hand the name card to the announcer when you approach the stage.
- Locate your major/program sign and line up in alphabetical order, by last name, in front of the program sign. Signs will be posted on the wall.
- Ushers will lead you from the assembly area into the auditorium. You will be ushered to your seats. Please remain standing until asked to be seated.
Honor Students
Honor students will pick up their honor regalia during the Grad Prep. Honor calculations are based on the cumulative GPA of the student academic transcript following fall semester. Spring semester grades are not available for calculation prior to commencement. Final academic honors will be posted to final transcripts.
- Highest Honors: cumulative GPA 3.75 – 4.0 (Medallion + Gold Stole)
- Academic Excellence: cumulative GPA 3.50 – 3.74 (Medallion)
The Graduation Committee does not distribute Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Stoles. If you are a PTK member and would like a stole for graduation, please make sure to contact your PTK Advisor prior to graduation.
Degrees, Diplomas & Certificates
Degrees, diplomas and certificates will be mailed approximately 4-8 weeks following the posting of your final grades (pending successful completion of your program requirements).
