Workforce Development Scholarships from the State of Minnesota are available to new students pursuing high-demand careers at Minnesota community and technical colleges.
Eligibility Requirements
Review the eligibility requirements below and submit an application before the deadline.
Eligible students must:
- Be a resident of the state of Minnesota. (Must be a high school graduate of a Minnesota high school or, if older than average, must have established residency in Minnesota.)
- Enroll in at least 9 credits in the fall semester and declare one of the high-demand Northland programs. (See program list below.)
- Students who were awarded a Workforce Development Scholarship last year are eligible to apply again if they have completed two academic terms with a minimum of nine credits each and have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Eligible Certificates, Diplomas, and Degrees
Made possible through Minnesota State legislation, a limited number of $2,500 scholarships are available to students seeking a certificate, diploma, or degree in:
- Architectural Technology & Design (A.A.S.)
- Architectural Technology & Design (Diploma)
- Carpentry Residential (Diploma)
- Construction Electricity (Diploma)
- Construction Plumbing (Diploma)
- Construction Plumbing/HVAC (A.A.S.)
- Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (Diploma)
- Intro Architectural Technology & Design (Diploma)
- Health Sciences Broad Field (A.S.)
- Medical Administrative Assistant (A.A.S.)
- Medical Coding Specialist (A.A.S.)
- Medical Office Specialist (Diploma)
- Nursing (A.S.)
- Occupational Therapy Assistant (A.A.S.)
- Pharmacy Technology (A.A.S.)
- Pharmacy Technology (Diploma)
- Physical Therapist Assistant (A.A.S.)
- Practical Nursing (Diploma)
- Radiologic Technology (A.A.S.)
- Respiratory Therapy (A.A.S.)
- Surgical Technology (A.A.S.)
