WDS Nursing Assistant Orientation

See full course schedule here.

This course is included in the Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train, Test, Work initiative. For accepted candidates, this Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train, Test, Work course, and registry testing, are available tuition-free thanks to State of Minnesota funding to help with the nursing assistant workforce shortage. Participants are required to work as a nursing assistant after training completion.

Learn basic nursing skills including how to take vital signs, provide personal cares, and mobility assistance. Become prepared to work in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and home care agencies. Be guided by a team of registered nurses who care about your success!

This hybrid course includes an online D2L component, required in-person East Grand Forks lab sessions, and in-person Crookston clinical sessions. Space is limited and the course will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Candidates interested in this course must register in advance. Your registration will be placed in an approval queue and college staff will reach out to you if there are still openings.

Individuals currently employed in long-term care, individuals not planning on working as a nursing assistant, or those needing to take a course only to fulfill an educational pre-requisite will be directed to other training options.
