What is Post-Secondary Education?
Post-Secondary Education is an opportunity that allows high school juniors and seniors to take courses at Northland Community & Technical College on either a full or part-time basis and earn both college and high school credit. Students have the opportunity to choose a variety of challenging coursework that may meet graduation standards as well as provide preparation for future career goals. There is no cost to students for tuition, fees, and course required textbooks.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible Minnesota high school juniors or seniors may enroll in course work through the College as part of the student's full-time high school enrollment. Acceptance is based on your high school rank - juniors must rank in the upper third of their class and seniors must rank in the upper half of their class. Students not meeting the above requirements may enroll in a diploma program if they have the permission of their high school. Contact your high school counselor or NCTC admissions for the special application form required for this program.
NCTC will evaluate student eligibility, admit students to the College on a provisional basis, register students for courses on a space available basis, inform the student of the support services available at the College, and monitor satisfactory academic progress. Participation in this program requires the approval of the parent or legal guardian and the College. Continued participation requires satisfactory academic progress.Students accepted into the PSEO program will have their tuition & fees paid by the high school or the State of Minnesota. This program is not available for students enrolling for Summer Session.

NCTC will offer PSEO students only courses that have been approved by Northland's Academic Affairs Council. Developmental courses are not covered by the PSEO program. Courses delivered as part of the PSEO program must meet MnSCU and NCTC academic policies and standards. Prior to registering for classes, students are required to take the college assessment. After completion of the assessment, students may register by meeting with their high school counselor or an NCTC academic advisor. PSEO students may enroll in no more than 32 credits per year without approval of the high school.
PSEO students are subject to all policies and procedures of the college and are expected to follow the college calendar as to important dates and deadlines.
The College President or designee must approve any deviation from this practice.
