Northland Community Band to perform Spring Concert

A collection of music from the Great War to be featured.

April 23, 2019 – Join the Northland Community Band (NCB) as they present Over There!, a collection of music from the World War I era on Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the Northland Community & Technical College Gunderson Commons on the Thief River Falls campus.

The NCB will be performing music from the World War I era including marches by John Philip Sousa, Mars and Jupiter from Holst’s The Planets, God Bless America by Irving Berlin, a selection of popular tunes taken from the old TRF City Band library that dates back to the early 1900s, and of course, Over There! by George M. Cohan.

The NCB became part of the college about 50 years ago, but it has had a very long tradition in the community starting in 1912 as the Thief River Falls City Band. Every fall and spring, musicians from the Northwest region in Minnesota come together to make music.

The NCB is dedicated to encouraging community amateur musicianship, supporting music education in Northwest Minnesota, and stimulating the appreciation of band music by providing locally accessible concerts for the people in our region.

This event is open to the public; families and children are welcome. Free will donations accepted. Root beer and popcorn will be served.
