Northland Community Band Spring Concert Scheduled for May 6

Concert will commence at 7 p.m. at the Northland Community & Technical College Theater in Thief River Falls, MN.

The Northland Community Band is pleased to announce its upcoming Spring Band Concert, scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The concert will commence at 7 p.m. at the Northland Community & Technical College Theater in Thief River Falls, and we cordially invite the community to join us for an evening of diverse musical performances.

This concert will showcase a variety of pieces performed by talented local instrumentalists, ensuring an enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages, including families and children. Admission is free, although donations are welcome.

The evening’s program will feature a selection of musical compositions, including lively marches that embody the celebratory spirit of a Mardi Gras parade, such as “March Creole” by Stephen Bulla. The band will also honor the historical significance of the Battle of Normandy through the piece “Homage to Normandy” by David Long, and will take the audience on a musical journey to Japan with the folk piece “Sakura, Sakura.”

Additionally, the concert will present an engaging narrative titled “The Banquet…and the Poison Soup Plot” by Dana Wilson, which recounts an intriguing story from 1916 about a chef in Chicago with a rather mischievous plan that ultimately leads to a happy resolution. To conclude the evening, attendees can look forward to a “Salute to Television,” featuring some of the most recognizable TV theme songs that many will remember fondly.
