Northland Community & Technical College to Celebrate 2024 Graduates at Spring Commencement Ceremonies

Thief River Falls campus will hold its ceremony on Thursday, May 9, while the East Grand Forks campus will celebrate its ceremony on Friday, May 10.

Northland Community & Technical College is set to honor more than 500 graduates in two commencement ceremonies this spring. The Thief River Falls campus will hold its ceremony on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Northland gymnasium, while the East Grand Forks campus will celebrate its ceremony on Friday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chester Fritz Auditorium, Grand Forks, ND.

“Graduation is a momentous occasion for our students as they move on to the next phase of their lives, either by entering the workforce or transferring to universities,” expressed Sandy Kiddoo, President of Northland Community & Technical College. “This is a time to recognize their achievements and the impact they will have on our regional communities and economies.”

Emma Osborn (TRF campus) and Blythe Peltier (EGF campus), the Student of the Year award recipients, will address fellow graduates and guests.

Osborn, originally from Crookston, MN, will be graduating with an Associate of Applied Science degree and a Diploma in Animal Science. Along with her degrees, she has also earned Certificates in General Agriculture and Advanced General Agriculture. Emma plans to continue her education by enrolling at the University of Minnesota Crookston to complete her pre-veterinary degree. Emma was also an integral part of the Northland women’s basketball team and played as a two-year starter. “This award means so much to me,” Osborn said. “I have had such a great time the last two years at Northland, I have put so much time and work into classes and playing basketball and this award just puts the cherry right on top of it all. I am very proud of myself.”

Peltier, hailing from Belcourt, ND, has earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood and Paraprofessional. Blythe has shown remarkable dedication and perseverance in her academic journey to achieve this degree. Her hard work and determination have culminated in this achievement, and she is undoubtedly an inspiration to all those who know her. “This award is important to me because I’ve worked so hard for as long as I can remember,” Peltier said. “The professors and people I have come in contact with at Northland were more than encouraging. They made me feel so welcomed and like I was in the right place learning to do what I love. You come in nervous, but you leave with new friends, people who support you and an education that helps you grow.”

Friends, family members, and the general public who are unable to attend commencement are invited to watch the ceremonies through live streaming. The college website will have a link to the live stream. You can view the video on your computer, mobile device, or smart TV once broadcasting starts. Commencement ceremonies are expected to last approximately 90 minutes.
