Northland Radiologic Technology Program Earns Maximum 8-Year Accreditation with Zero Findings

Recognition from nation’s leading accreditor underscores program quality and regional workforce impact.

Northland Community & Technical College Radiologic Technology students gain hands-on experience operating diagnostic imaging equipment, adjusting exposure settings and controls as part of real-world clinical training at the East Grand Forks campus.

East Grand Forks, MN — Northland Community & Technical College’s Radiologic Technology program has been awarded the maximum eight-year accreditation with zero citations by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) — a rare distinction that signals exceptional program quality.

The accreditation follows a comprehensive on-site evaluation conducted on March 5–6, 2026, with final action taken by the JRCERT board at its June 17, 2026, meeting, during which the program was found to be in full compliance with all national standards.

The JRCERT is the only accrediting agency for radiologic technology programs recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty, the strength of our clinical partnerships, and the hard work of our students,” said Debra Beland, dean of nursing and allied health, who served as program director at the time of the review. “Earning the maximum accreditation term with no citations is uncommon and speaks to our commitment to excellence in education and workforce preparation.”

Accreditation was awarded under the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiography (2021), with the program meeting all criteria. The eight-year term is the longest accreditation period available, with the next site visit tentatively scheduled for 2034.

Northland’s Radiologic Technology program prepares students for in-demand careers in diagnostic imaging, combining classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience through regional healthcare partnerships. Graduates play a key role in patient care, supporting physicians with imaging that informs diagnosis and treatment.

The designation reinforces Northland’s role in preparing skilled healthcare professionals to meet growing workforce needs across northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.
