Northland Community and Technical College has before it a golden opportunity.
In the fiscal year ending June 30, the college had a total enrollment of 3,261 full- and part-time students. That total included 879 high school students, a number that’s growing.
So here lies Northland’s opportunity: Partnerships, recruitment and investment that are underway at the college come at a time of growing national understanding that vocational and technical education is vitally important to business, industry and the economy.
In her “State of the College” address last week, interim President Shari Olson outlined her goals for NCTC, including growing enrollment. That’s a great place to focus.
Here’s wishing Olson the best in her endeavor, since NCTC’s success in bringing in more students could have a notable positive impact on labor woes that have gripped North Dakota and much of the region.
