EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. Dr. Jeffrey Bell has been chosen as the Northland Community & Technical College (NCTC) nominee for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) Board of Trustees, Educator of the Year award for 2017-2018. He is a Biology instructor at NCTC’s East Grand Forks campus.
Dr. Bell was chosen from a widely skilled and dedicated group of faculty across both of NCTC’s campuses. He emphasized, “My nomination for the MN Board of Trustees Educator of the Year award is quite an honor and I am extremely humbled. In my teaching, I have only ever tried to match the excellence I see every day in my fellow faculty members. I am honored to teach at Northland Community and Technical College where I work amongst some of the finest people who share my passion in helping students learn and succeed.”
I try to instill in my students a love of learning, so they will continue to expand their knowledge not only throughout their academic careers but for the rest of their lives.
The Board of Trustees Educator of the Year award acknowledges and rewards exceptional professional accomplishment in teaching. Evaluation criteria includes teaching strategies and materials; content expertise and professional growth; assessment of student learning and performance; and service to students, the profession, the institution, and the system.
“Dr. Bell is a shining example of what excellence in teaching is at Northland Community & Technical College. Both his students and colleagues consider him to be exemplary and he demonstrates on a daily basis learner centered teaching and our commitment to serving students. We are very proud to put forward his nomination for the Board of Trustees Educator of the Year award,” added NCTC president Dr. Dennis Bona.

The winner of the system-wide award will be chosen in April 2018.
