Peace Officer Skills 1

This course is offered to students who have successfully completed the Criminal Justice courses which contain the Peace Officer Standards and Training objectives and are planning to take the state licensing exam. This course contains hands-on learning experiences in evidence collection, use of force, patrol procedure, firearms. Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) objectives are included in each learner outcome (P.O). Corequisite(s): CRJU1127 or instructor permission.

*Contact the program director prior to enrollment.
*Prerequisite Minnesota Statutes
*EMR (First Responder) or must have completed training equivalent to or exceeding the requirements for emergency medical responder registration under MSS 144E.27 Subd. 2(1)-(2); or it is to be completed with the first six months of employment.
*Students must complete medical and psychological requirements set forth by the Northland Community and Technical College Peace Officer program.
*Complete background check at students? expense.
*Must purchase tactical black boots/shoes as well as khaki colored cargo-style pants.
*Must pass the Northland recognized physical fitness test.
*Students must pass CRJU 2229 to continue on to CRJU 2239. Students who do not pass CRJU 2229 will be dropped from CRJU 2239.
