Our application process is easy. You can complete it online, and there’s no fee to apply.

Before You Begin

  • For Online Students: After you submit your online application, a Distance Minnesota Advisor will reach out to you. For more information about online learning, please visit the Distance Minnesota website.
  • For International Students: You can use the online application or visit our international student admissions page for details on how to apply to Northland.
  • For Post-Secondary Enrollment (PSEO) Students: You need to provide additional information. Please refer to our PSEO application requirements for more details.

Start Your Application

You can fill out the application at your own pace. You have the option to save your progress and come back to it later, even from a different computer. Before you send it in, be sure to review everything carefully!

Here are a few important points:

  • Once you submit your application, you’ll receive information about any other requirements you need to complete for admission. Make sure to take care of these requirements and submit everything by the deadline.
  • An email will be sent to you with your Student ID number once your application is processed. Additionally, after you submit your application, you should expect to receive a letter from Northland within two weeks.
  • If your application is not accepted, you can refer to the Northland Admissions Procedure for details on how to appeal the decision.

Send Us Your High School Transcript or GED

Please arrange for your high school transcript or GED certificate to be sent directly from your school or testing center to the Northland Admissions Office. Transcripts are considered official only when sent by the issuing institution; documents submitted by the student are not accepted as official. Some high schools may require a signed consent form before releasing transcripts, so be sure to check with your school to complete any necessary steps. Do you have Transfer Credits? If you have transcripts from other schools, please request that each institution send your official transcripts directly to the Northland Admissions Office. Transcripts are only considered official when sent by the issuing school or institution; documents submitted by the student are not accepted as official. If you’ve taken classes at another Minnesota State College or University and want to transfer those credits to Northland, you’ll need to fill out an eTranscript Request Form.

Additionally, please remember to complete and submit the immunization form, which is required by Minnesota law for college attendance.
