Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN is home to more than 75 areas of study specializing in the areas of liberal arts and transfer programs, career and occupational programs, pre-Professional programs, professional development programs, and online programs, 185 employees, and more than 2000 students. The campus is situated on 150 beautiful, landscaped acres and is located at the junction of the Thief River and Red Lake rivers.

Campus History

The history of Northland Community and Technical College's Thief River Falls campus dates back to 1949, when the Thief River Falls Area Vocational Institute opened. A few years later in 1965, the Thief River Falls State Junior College, also held its first classes.

The names of the two colleges changed several times throughout its history. One of the most prominent changes occurred in July of 1995 when the two colleges merged to create Northland Community and Technical College.

In July of 2003, Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls merged with the East Grand Forks campus of Northwest Technical College, to become a two campus comprehensive college.
