November 15, 2024
Join us on November 21, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. for an engaging performance by local instrumental musicians in the Northland Community & Technical College Theatre, located on the Thief River Falls campus.
The concert will showcase the Northland Community Band and a low brass ensemble, directed by Northland Music Instructor Linda Samuelson. Families and children are invited to attend. While there is no admission fee, a freewill donation will be accepted.
The concert program will showcase a diverse selection of music, starting with a classic march, which underscores the rich history of concert bands. The repertoire will include a transcription of a piece for two choirs by Bonelli, Toccata “Atalanta,” from 1602, a medley from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and two lively polkas. Additionally, the program will feature a novelty number from the early 1900s, complete with engaging percussion and trumpet performances, as well as a beautiful ballad. The band will also present “Mekong,” highlighting several soloists and incorporating special water effects to evoke the atmosphere of the Vietnamese river. Conclusively, the entire low brass section will perform three selected holiday pieces.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission seating, with the concert commencing at 7:00 p.m.
