Northern Jazz will Perform Winter Merriment Concert at Northland

Performance to be held February 28 on Northland's Thief River Falls campus

February 10, 2020 – Come out and cast off the winter doldrums with the Northern Jazz as they perform in the Gunderson Commons at Northland Community & Technical College in Thief River Falls on Friday, February 28. The doors will open at 6:30 with the music beginning at 7:00. A $5 admission will be collected to support the Northwest Minnesota Community Bands, a local 501c3 that supports both the Northern Jazz and Northland Community Band. Light snacks and beverages are included for the audience to enjoy during the concert.

A wide variety of musical favorites, many featuring area singers including swing hits like “At Last,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon” and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” featuring guest vocalist Sherry Knott, who will also sing up-tempo numbers like “Birdland” and “You Are the Sunshine of My Life.” We will also call on the talents of Jim Lehrer to sing a variety of pieces including funk/disco hit “Boogie Shoes” and pop hit “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.” Our other singers include Linda Samuelson, Mark Lehrer, and Brianna Geer. In addition to the variety of vocal numbers, we’ll be playing some band-only pieces as well like “Pick Up the Pieces” “Grazing in the Grass,” “Heartache Tonight,” and “What is Hip?” for what is bound to be an entertaining evening.
