Assessment for Course Placement

Multiple Measures Assessment are the evaluation tools used for student placement into appropriate college courses.

Please review the order in which Northland determines course placement:

  1. High School GPA
  2. ACT, SAT & MCA Score Minimums
  3. Guided Self Placement
  4. Accuplacer Score Minimums

1. High School GPA

A cumulative high school GPA of 2.8 or higher and the completion of Algebra II with an average of C- or better is college-level ready in math. A cumulative high school GPA of 2.6 or higher is college ready in reading/writing. High school transcripts and/or GED are valid for 10 years.

2. ACT, SAT & MCA Score Minimums

When ACT, SAT, and MCA scores are available; students will be advised about their course placement options. ACT, SAT, and MCA scores are valid for 5 years inclusive of the current calendar year.

The scores below indicate the student is ready for college-level courses.
