The 2015/2016 academic year marks several anniversaries for Northland Community and Technical College. It is the 50th Anniversary of the Community College in Thief River Falls, and 50 years for athletics, music and theater. Also, it is the 40th anniversary of the East Grand Forks campus facility, as well as 40 years for the NCTC Foundation.
Already this year, several events have been held commemorating these milestones! The Anniversary Celebration Luncheon on the East Grand Forks campus (2022 Central Avenue NE) continues the celebration. The luncheon is set for Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The luncheon program will feature:
➢ President Dennis Bona highlighting key goals for the college
➢ Recognition of former presidents/directors of the East Grand Forks campus
➢ Honoring longtime NCTC advocate, Henry Tweten
Henry has a rich history of community service, and is a strong supporter of education. His service on the EGF City Council from 1962-1967 and from 2000-present is impressive. He was chair of the DFL Party 7th Congressional District in the 70’s. And, served on the Board for Higher Education (1973-80). Henry’s advocacy helped in East Grand Forks quest to receive designation as an area vocational technical institute district, and he was greatly involved in securing the tract of land where Northland Community and Technical College stands in East Grand Forks.
Pieces of history will be on display as the archives have been researched and many items selected to represent the past 40 years.
Lunch is complimentary, however reservations are required as seating is limited.
Reservations can be made by contacting Sheila Bruhn, Executive Director NCTC Foundation at 218-793-2467 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Campus tours will be available after the luncheon.
