Read & Write Screen Reader

Northland Community and Technical College is providing you access to a tool called Read&Write to support your learning. It is a program you can put on your computer with approximately 20 tools to help you read, write, study, and research. Some of the tools available are:

• Text-to-Speech - read PDFs, ePubs, websites, documents, and D2L outloud
• Highlighters
• Annotation tool - markup and write on your documents
• Speech-to-Text - speak papers and typed text out loud
• Dictionary
• Translator
• Screenmaking - change the color of your screen to help ease screen fatigue
• Vocabulary Tool - to help learn vocab words or concepts

The tool works in many of the places you commonly do schoolwork:

• Office 365 Online
• PDFs
• D2L Brightspace
• Websites
• ePubs
• Microsoft Office Suite (such as Word)

The tool is available in the following platforms:

• Within Google Chrome as an Extension
• Downloaded to your Windows Desktop
• Downloaded to your Mac Desktop
• Within Microsoft Edge as an Extension
• On iPads and Android Tablets (limited functionality)
