Testing Guidelines & Procedures

Appointments
  • We strongly encourage students to review their individual testing schedule and set up appointments well in advance to ensure testing availability within the given time of the exams
  • If students are unable to keep the appointment, please notify the campus proctors ASAP.
  • Students cannot be guaranteed an appointment with same-day request due to the high volume of testing
  • If a student is more than 15 minutes late to the appointment, students will need to reschedule.
Student Responsibilities
  • Request proctor approval and send address and contact information to the appropriate instructor(s) well in advance of the first test due date.
  • No personal items are allowed during testing; lockers will be available to secure item.
  • Communicate any exam access problems or changes to instructors (make-up tests, test time lapsed, changed proctor etc). Proctors will not make phone calls or send e-mails if there is a problem with your test.
  • Students must present a valid Northland College student ID card at the time of the exam.
  • Students not enrolled in Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system institutions are responsible to pay $25 fee for every proctored exam.
Making Testing Appointments
  • Students are responsible for knowing the testing hours, policies, and procedures of their proctor(s)
  • Students taking a proctored test at an Northland College institution must schedule all testing appointments using the online scheduling system
    • We strongly encourage students to consult their course testing schedule to schedule appointments in advance to ensure testing availability within the given time of the exams.
    • Students can schedule appointments for the current and following month.
    • Same-day and walk-in appointments are not guaranteed due to the high volume of testing and space limitations.
    • If students are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please notify the campus proctors ASAP via e-mail or phone, or access the scheduling website to cancel the appointment.
    • If a student is more than 15 minutes late to the scheduled appointment, they may be asked to reschedule depending on test volume.
Instructor Responsibilities
  • Provide a roster of students to be proctored at either location (EGF or TRF) as well as updated proctoring instructions.
  • Provide, in the D2L proctor course; all test codes, their availability dates, and resource allowances (notes, calculator, etc.)
  •  Non-D2L exams: provide the Proctor Staff with hard copies of the exams (photo copies and printing is not available to proctor staff).
  • D2L exams: provide complete list of exam passwords for all exams at the start of each semester.
Proctor Responsibilities
  • Maintain student/instructor files for proctoring-contact for emergency closing etc
  • Return exams following completion.
