CAD Designer

Job Description:  
• Assist project managers with preparation of civil engineering design plans and surveys.
• Generate draft sketches, drawings, and other engineering data received from project managers via verbal or written descriptions.
• Compile project documentation, prepare record drawings, draft detailed dimensional drawings for civil engineering projects, and review project plans and specifications for constructability.
• Make redline revisions as requested by project managers to create final engineering plans and/or surveys.
• Draft detailed dimensional drawings for civil engineering projects.
• Occasionally work outdoors as a survey crew member.

Requirements:
• AAS Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Land Surveying or related field with 7 to 10 years of related experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D features and concepts with the ability to create grading plans, conduct earthwork computations, develop alignments & profiles and generate plan sheets.
• An understanding of typical engineering practices for civil engineering projects.
• Understanding of basic survey concepts.
• Familiarity with project specifications including previous experience interpreting and/or preparing construction documents.
• Experience with Trimble office software.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Written and oral communication skills sufficient to support working independently or as part of a project team.
• Detail oriented and organized, with above average math skills as they relate to engineering applications.
• Acute attention to detail with ability to recognize engineering plan discrepancies.
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently as required.
• Ability to interpret project documents including maps, reports, construction plans, and specifications.
• Safety-conscious, willing and able to follow all HEI safety policies.
• Valid drivers license and good driving record.
