The purpose of the Advising Office is to provide academic guidance to NCTC students. The advisors assist students with plans for their course of study, registration, and give academic advice. The advisors strongly recommend that students meet with them regularly to plan academic schedules to assure students are on track to meet their educational goals. DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System)
Degree Audit Report System
The Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) is designed to help you identify and understand your current academic requirements for degree or program completion.
Please click on the following link to view a Captivate Presentation that will give you a brief overview of DARS.
What is DARS?
DARS is a tool designed to assist program advisors, academic counselors, and students in selecting courses and showing academic progress towards educational goals.
What DARS is not!
The DARS report is not a transcript. It is not intended to report a student's academic record to outside parties. If you need a student copy of your transcript, you may obtain one from the NCTC website. As with a transcript, federal law prohibits transmission of a DARS report to a third party without the student's permission.
How will DARS help me?
DARS is a computer-based system that lists the college requirements for your program to help you plan and monitor your progress. DARS does this by: identifying all the requirements needed to complete your program; indicating NCTC and transfer courses you have already completed and how they pertain to your requirements; and specifying what you still need to complete your program.
How can I get my DARS report?
Go to the NCTC website www.northlandcollege.edu. Click on MyNCTC on the menu bar and then click on e-Services and choose Register On-Line for Classes. Log in to the web registration system with your NCTC Student ID and PIN. Once you have successfully logged in, look to the upper left hand corner for the Student E-Services menu, click on Grades & Transcripts then choose Degree Audit Report.
How do I read my DARS report?

Minnesota Course Applicability System (MNCAS)
Are you looking for more information on transfer? If so, check out MNCAS (Minnesota Course Applicability System).
What is MNCAS?
MNCAS is a multistate, Web-based transfer information system that provides fast and accurate course and credit information to students and their advisors.
Please click on the following link to view a Captivate Presentation that will give you a brief overview of CAS.
What does MNCAS do?
The MNCAS system helps transfer students move from school to school and earn degrees in a timely manner. Users can obtain information, course descriptions and equivalencies, student services Web sites and maintain a personal "degree audit" with courses and grades they have earned.
How does MNCAS work?
Through one entry, www.mncas.org, a potential transfer student has direct access to course acceptability, equivalency and applicability among participating institutions across the United States, enabling students to see how their courses fulfill degree requirements at the desired college or university.
MNCAS is a service provided to students, faculty, advisors and administrators. It is a free service, so log on today at www.mncas.org!
