New Media graduates are prepared for work in traditional media fields of broadcast and print, and as communications specialists in small business, manufacturing, health care, education and government. The Center for New Media offers training in digital photography, web design, video and audio acquisition and editing.

1. Students will use digital media productions to craft creative business communications.
2. Students will combine images, audio, graphics and text into cohesive digital media productions.
3. Students will apply high technical and artistic standards in operation of cameras, microphones, recorders, editing software and other studio equipment.
4. Students will write scripts for multimedia commercials, news packages, documentaries, and other productions.
5. Students will evaluate appropriate methods for distributing multimedia programming, taking into account the compression/bandwidth considerations, image/audio quality, and cost effectiveness of each.
6. Students will integrate streaming and archived multimedia productions with basic web design elements.
7. Students will create verbal, visual, and written communications for employers/clients, including estimates, professional forms, marketing materials, market research, web pages and multimedia productions.
8. Students will apply problem solving to multimedia production workflows.
9. Students will read, comprehend and communicate verbal, written and visual information.
10. Students will analyze and critique multimedia productions for effectiveness, including: technical quality, accuracy, style, and marketability.
11. Students will demonstrate a professional and responsible attitude toward care of equipment, organizational skills and workplace safety.
12. Students will demonstrate skills and attitudes necessary for lifelong learning and career growth.
