Program Specific Requirements Students achieving assessment scores below the established minimums must register and successfully complete (with a grade of "C" or better) the required developmental courses in order to meet graduation requirements.
The college minimum scores for the Accuplacer Assessment test are as follows:
Reading Comprehension: 66
Sentence Skills: 78
Arithmetic: 50
Note: Some programs may require assessment scores that exceed the college minimum in the areas of Arithmetic & Elementary Algebra.
Graduates with a Cosmetology degree develop skills in the art, science and business of beauty care. Beauty care includes permanent hair coloring, hair styling, hair shaping, nail and skin care. Cosmetology offers students a variety of career opportunities. Students completing the program can choose to be general cosmetologists or to specialize in their area of expertise.
Students receive a combination of classroom and laboratory work with the opportunity to practice their skills on mannequins and clients who patronize the campus lab. This facility operates as a commercial salon, and students have the opportunity to train in a business environment, take appointments, work with a variety of hairstyles and requests, and develop strong customer service skills. A total of 1550 hours of coursework in cosmetology is required to meet examination entrance standards to become licensed.
Graduates find jobs as Cosmetologist, Stylist, Sales Representative, Makeup Consultant, Manicurist, Esthetician, Hairdresser.

9. Student will create effective professional communication documents appropriate to the field of Cosmetology.
10. Student will communicate professionally and effectively with all clients and salon professionals with respect for diversity of culture, age and gender.
11. Student will demonstrate ability to use a variety of technologies appropriate to the field of Cosmetology.
12. Student will perform tasks and duties within ethical and legal parameters expected of a professional Cosmetologist.
