PTA Student Wins The Only National Scholarship For PTA’s To Attend National Conference

Northland Community & Technical College Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) student, Haley Monson, has been selected as one of three students (2 DPT and 1 PTA) to receive a scholarship from HPA The Catalyst for the 2017 American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections Meeting. Monson, a second-year PTA student, was the only PTA student in the nation to be selected by the American Physical Therapy Association to receive the scholarship to attend.

The Combined Sections Meeting draws more than 9,000 physical therapy professionals from around the country. This year the conference will be held Feb. 15-18, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Haley and several other PTA students will be presenting a research poster at the conference.

“As the only PTA student selected nationally for this opportunity, I know Haley will do a great job representing NCTC and the PTA Program at this conference,” said Justin Berry, PTA Program Director.

Additionally, she will be paired with an HPA member in leadership. Students and mentors will attend an HPA programming session of their choice together, attend the poster or platform presentations sponsored by HPA The Catalyst, and attend the HPA Business Meeting/Global Health Reception.
