Sen. Amy Klobuchar Holds Press Conference To Highlight Veterans to Paramedics Transition Act at NCTC

Northland Community & Technical College welcomed Senator Amy Klobuchar on Aug. 16 as she highlighted the bipartisan Veterans to Paramedics Transition Act.

The Veterans to Paramedics Transition Act makes it easier for veterans to secure jobs as paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and nurses while helping to reduce the shortage of much-needed emergency medical personnel in rural communities across the country through credit for prior learning.

We think this is a win, win for veterans employment and for our communities that need these skilled employees.

“We look to usher in an era that we can give credit to our veterans that have served our country and have experience from that,” said Senator Amy Klobuchar. “We think this is a win, win for veterans employment and for our communities that need these skilled employees,” she added.

NCTC president Dr. Dennis Bona stressed, “NCTC has a long and strong tradition of serving our veteran students. We have found our veteran students to persevere and be very successful in our programs.”

This Act will create an educational fast track to help veteran students who have previous training and experience get the credit they deserve. By receiving these credits for prior learning, they are able to complete healthcare programs in a faster and more efficient manner with the cooperation of the governing boards.
