ShaRon Miller Represents NCTC At NJCAA All-Star Game

Northland Community & Technical College (NCTC) women’s basketball player, ShaRon Miller, was recently selected to represent NCTC at the 2016 NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Weekend. She was one of 40 players across all divisions of the NJCAA to be selected to play in Niceville, Fl. at the All-Star Weekend on July 21-24.

In the spring, women’s basketball coaches in all divisions of the NJCAA from across America were invited to nominate their best freshmen to participate in the 2016 NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Weekend. ShaRon was one of only three Division III players selected to the All-Star Weekend. Over the weekend ShaRon attended recruiting seminars, practiced with her all-star team, and attended the NJCAA Hall-of-Fame Banquet. She then played in two games with her All-Star team.

I couldn't be more excited to represent NCTC in such a huge way. I am beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity. quote
This All-Star nomination was well earned after her impressive first year with the Pioneers. Last season she led the nation in field goal percentage, at 61.0%. She led the Pioneers in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (8.8 rpg), double-doubles (14), field goal percentage (61.0%), and made free throws (96).

ShaRon was the first NCTC Pioneer to receive this honor under coach Shannon Nelson. After the weekend ShaRon said, “I couldn’t be more excited to represent NCTC in such a huge way. I am beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity.”

Coach Shannon Nelson added, “It was such a well-deserved honor for ShaRon to be selected to the 2016 NJCAA All-Star team. To be chosen as one of the top 40 players in the nation is a testament to the great freshman season she had. Participating in the All-Star weekend gave ShaRon the opportunity to get some exposure from four-year universities while at the same time representing NCTC on a national level.”
