Pioneer ShaRon Miller Named First-Team All American

Northland Pioneer, ShaRon Miller, was named a First Team 2015-2016 NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball All-American. Miller was selected by the NJCAA on April 5, 2016. She was one of only five players in the nation named to the First Team and the only freshman given the title.

Miller (#53) is a 6' freshman forward for the Pioneers. She joined the Pioneers after attending high school in Blaine, Minn. In addition to being named a 2015-16 First Team All-American, she was also designated:

• 2016 NJCAA DIII All Tournament Selection
• 2015-16 First Team All-Region XIII
• 2015-16 First Team All-MCAC
• 2015-16 First Team All-Northern Division

Coach Shannon Nelson said, “This is the first time in my coaching tenure at Northland that a Pioneer freshman has been named All-American.” Miller led the nation in field goal percentage this season, at 61.0%. She led the Pioneers in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (8.8 rpg), double-doubles (14), field goal percentage (61.0%), and made free throws (96).

Coach Nelson added, "ShaRon created a difficult match up for opponents all season with her ability to score, defend, and rebound inside. She was the inside presence that balanced our strong perimeter shooting, which helped this team get all the way to a national championship game. I couldn’t be prouder of ShaRon’s contributions to Northland women’s basketball and she is very deserving of this honor. We are excited to have her back as a Pioneer next season!"
