The Northland Pioneer Women's Basketball team has advanced to the 2016 NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. The Pioneers won the Region 13B Women’s Basketball Tournament with wins over Rainy River Community College and Mesabi Range Community College. These victories earned them a spot in the National Tournament on March 10-12, 2016 in Lincroft, New Jersey.
Northland will be the #2 seed in the tournament and play against Sullivan County Community College out of Loch Sheldrake, NY at 2 PM on March 10th. This is Northland’s eighth tournament appearance. Northland won the National Championship in 2014.
Northland had a 26-win and 2-loss season and was undefeated in the MCAC Northern Division. The Pioneers are coached by Shannon Nelson. She is in her sixth season as head coach of the Pioneers.
