Northland Community & Technical College’s Aviation Maintenance Club (AMC) is headed to the National Aircraft Maintenance Skills competition in Dallas, TX. It will be held April 5-7, 2016. Club members will compete against other college teams from all over the country in a wide variety of maintenance skills challenges. Over 15,000 people attend the skills competition and conference annually.
This is the first year NCTC’s AMC club will be participating in the competition. After two years of building a team, they will be competing in the biggest aviation maintenance competition in America. Six members of the AMC club will represent NCTC at the event.
With help from a generous $1000 donation from the Northland Aerospace Foundation, the club members have lessened their financial burden of attending the competition.
The donation has brought them closer to their goal of sending the six members at no cost to the students, but they are still hoping to generate addition funding between now and April.
The AMC club is currently holding a raffle that is sponsored by the Thief River Falls Eagles Club. Tickets can be bought at the Eagles Club and VFW in Thief River Falls or you can contact Tom Biller at 218.683.8811 or Thomas.email@example.com for tickets. Tickets are $5 and there are a wide variety of prizes to be won.
Students that attend will have the chance to meet and network with potential employers at the event. Students in the past that have attended the conference portion have been hired or had multiple job offers on the spot, showing the value of education that Northland offers it’s aviation students.
