Northland Community & Technical College (NCTC) and Bemidji State University (BSU) will have a signing ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 19 to signify the start of NorthernConnect. Presidents of both BSU and NCTC will be on NCTC’s Thief River Falls campus at 10:00 a.m. to share remarks on the significance of the agreement for students at NCTC and BSU and will then sign the agreement, making it official.
NorthernConnect is a collaborative effort to ensure guaranteed and accelerated admission to BSU from NCTC for students who graduate with an AA, AS or AAS degree from NCTC. BSU and NCTC will also work to award reverse transfer degrees from NCTC to students that qualify from BSU.
“NorthernConnect is a great option for students and parents. It provides a solid pathway to a 4-year degree with planning after they start at NCTC or while still in high school. It provides options; students get the basic general education courses out of the way while living at home or nearby. Parents, take advantage of 2-year tuition and living costs,” stated NCTC vice president of academic and student affairs, Carey Castle.
