Northland Community & Technical College President Dr. Anne Temte announced today that she is planning to retire at the completion of her third three-year contract on June 30, 2015.
The announcement comes at this time to provide an opportunity for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System Chancellor Steven Rosenstone to conduct a national search for the next president of Northland. During the summer, a search firm will be identified and a broad-based committee will be appointed by the Chancellor.
The former MnSCU Chancellor James McCormick appointed Dr. Temte as president of Northland Community and Technical College on July 1, 2006. Prior to service as Northland’s president, Dr. Temte served as vice president of instruction and student development at Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee, Washington.
Temte informed the college community through a letter set by email Wednesday morning. In the letter she stated, “My husband and I have been discussing my time of departure for several years. We bought a home in Arizona some time ago and have decided that it is time to start the next phase of our lives.” She is looking forward to her final year of leadership at Northland. She shared “I will continue to support all of our efforts to improve student success as outlined in our “Commit 2 Complete” quality initiative. I will continue to advocate for Minnesota’s rural colleges and Northland in particular; the State of Minnesota must reaffirm its commitment to continuing access to higher education throughout the state.”
