Veteran softball coach and Northland instructor Kathy Huschle has agreed to assume the head coaching position for Women's Softball, effective immediately. A vacancy in this position was created with the resignation of Coach Merle Johnson. Johnson had been the head coach for both football and softball.
Coach Huschle served successfully as the head coach for softball for eight years from 2001 to 2009. She has also served for several years as the assistant coach.
Thief River Falls Campus Dean and Athletic Director Steve Crittenden indicated that Coach Huschle provides a wonderful solution to this coaching vacancy, Kathy is a highly experienced coach with a passion for softball. She will provide excellent continuity for the student athletes.” Coach Huschle stated I love this game, so it didn't take much for Steve to convince me to come out of retirement. I am excited to work with our softball players and look forward to a great season for the Northland Pioneers.
