Students from Northland Community & Technical College's Fire Technology program recently competed at the American Lung Association Fight for Air Stair Climb event held in Minneapolis, Minn. The event was held on February 23, 2013 at the Accenture Tower.
The American Lung Association (ALA) Fight for Air Stair Climb is an endurance challenge where participants compete in a race to the top of the 30 story, 660 stair Accenture Tower. The event raised over $240,000 and 785 climbers participated to help fight lung disease.
Participants in the Fire Fighter Stair Climb category are dressed in full turn-out gear and SCBA and are timed in their race up the tower. The times are then averaged for a team time, which the event is measured by. 32 Fire Departments competed in the event and the Northland Fire Technology Club took ninth place with a cumulative time of 8:08.
