The U.S. Senate passed a resolution that designates March 30th as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. This date mark the anniversary of the day that combat and combat support units withdrew completely from Vietnam under the terms in the Treaty of Paris.
The Senate encourages Americans across the country to recognize Vietnam Veterans for their sacrifice and demonstrate a warm welcome to these soldiers who returned from war to a politically divided country. About 58,000 Americans lost their lives in the Vietnam War. Many more Vietnam Veterans did not return to the same recognition as Veterans of other conflicts.
