Alumni establish the Cota Family Scholarship with the NCTC Foundation

The Northland Community and Technical College Foundation is pleased to announce the receipt of a gift from two former alumni to fund a new scholarship entitled the Cota Family Scholarship.
The scholarship was established by Roger Cota and his son, Kelly Cota. Roger is a 1969 graduate of NCTC. He currently resides in St. Hilaire, MN with his wife, Bonnie. Roger went on to attend University of Minnesota - Twin Cities graduating in 1971 with a degree in wildlife management. He currently works for Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, as an inventory control analyst in the Service Parts Department. Roger actively umpires for baseball, fast pitch softball and football games. Kelly Cota is a 2001 graduate of NCTC. Kelly played basketball for NCTC and went on to play at Mayville State University where he majored in secondary math education, graduating in 2004. He was selected as an Academic All-American in 2002 while attending Mayville State. Kelly currently lives in Arizona with his wife and children. He teaches at Gila Bend School District and recently completed his Masters Degree with the University of Phoenix in Special Education.
An annual scholarship in the amount of $200 will be awarded each spring semester to an NCTC-Thief River Falls sophomore student attending school full-time with a 2.75 or greater cumulative grade point average. The scholarship is open to students that graduated high school from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN and Lafayette High School, Red Lake Falls, MN. Recipients should also be participants in any of the following NCTC sports programs: baseball, fast pitch softball or basketball.
