The students of the Electronics Technology/ Automated Systems program at Northland Community & Technical College will hold an Electronics Technology Fair on Monday, May 4, 2009, from 12:00-3:00 p.m. in the Gunderson Commons at NCTC – TRF campus.

Area middle school and high school students along with the general public are invited to the Thief River Falls campus to see several of the student projects related to electronics and automation. The Electronics Technology Fair is free of charge and refreshments will be served.

According to Instructor Andrew Dahlen, “This year’s projects demonstrate a variety of technologies. Remote controlled robots, motion control, sensors, security systems, metal detector, and a nixie clock are just a few projects that will be on display. Also look for projects that showcase industrial automation. First and second year students have been working on these projects as part of the coursework for New and Emerging Technology and the Intro to Microcontrollers class.”

The Electronics Technology/Automated Systems program prepares students for technical level position is business and industry such as: Manufacturing Technician, Robotic Technician, Quality Technician, Technical Lead, Systems Integration, or Manufacturing Engineering Technician. Students receive a diversified education in Automated Systems specializing in electronics. The program has been developed in concert with business and industry partners.

The event is co-sponsored by 360°, a Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Center of Excellence in Manufacturing and Applied Engineering. The Automated Systems, Electronic Technology program is a 360° Program of Distinction at Northland Community & Technical College. 360° is collaboration of eight technical colleges and Bemidji State University with the mission to build the future workforce for manufacturing in Minnesota through innovative and collaborative education.
