This course teaches employees how to create error-proof practices at all levels throughout the organization. Through diagnostic exercises, simulation and presentation, employees learn that complex systems are trade-offs between multiple irreconcilable goals. Employees will increase their understanding of situational awareness, procedural violation, regulatory shortcomings, and managerial deficiencies. They will develop an eye for potential error that can be created by circumstances such as cognitive fixation, plan continuation, stress, inert knowledge, new technology and procedural knowledge. They will learn techniques to streamline their processes through contextualizing data and linking tools, tasks and operational/organizational environment in service of discovering and mitigating human error.
