Six Sigma is a management framework that focuses on process improvement through the use of statistical tools. The origins of Six Sigma can be traced back to 1986 and Motorola,Inc. Breakthrough improvements are sought through the reduction of variation. Six Sigma follows the DMAIC process. Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control make up the steps of the DMAIC process. Each step of DMAIC has multiple tools and techniques that are employed and utilized. A highly trained Black Belt in Six Sigma manages a project and incorporates the help of others trained in the DMAIC techniques. These include the Green and Yellow Belt team members.
