Northland's Center for Outreach & Innovation and Arctic Cat Inc. have developed a Lean Manufacturing curriculum based on the foundational principles of Continuous Improvement. Arctic Cat Inc. identified a need for employee development to advance the company and their employees.
The Arctic Cat project has three areas of focus:
The Race
The RACE takes the idea of competition and applies it to the company and its’ manufacturing processes. The continuous improvement topics apply lecture and theory with production-floor activities, followed up with facilitated project implementation. Using Lean tools, Arctic Cat desires to create a culture of continuous improvement and expand the “sphere of influence” each employee possesses.
American Production & Inventory Control (APICS)
APICS will provide the availability of a common language that enables Arctic Cat and individuals within, as well as the entire supply chain, to operate more productively and profitably.
Training benefits:
- Predict outcomes more accurately and take actions that achieve results
- Contribute to your organization’s success through increased efficiency across the processes of the supply chain
- Become an effective, strategic leader
- Meet the expectations of your customers and enterprise
Demand Flow Technology (DFT)
The 12 modules will promote an employee understanding of
Demand Flow Technology (DFT), vocabulary, methods, and
techniques as they relate to Production and Inventory
Management (PIM). SAP Alliance will be used to aid in the
development of curriculum and hands-on simulation and
experience.
The goal is to:
- Increase the usage and knowledge of the current Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software SAP and DFT
- Create an Electronic Resource Center (ERC) to serve as an ongoing training and facilitation tool
- The development of an internal certification process to assess proficiency of DFT and PIM
