Arctic Cat - Robotic Arc Welding
Developing the appropriate work force skills necessary to utilize technology is an essential factor for productivity improvement. Over the last several years, Arctic Cat Inc. has experienced difficulty in locating technically skilled employees for robotic welding positions. In response to this problem, Northland Community and Technical College (NCTC) and Arctic Cat Inc. worked collaboratively to develop and implement a customized robotic program for robotic technicians and operators. This customized curriculum will further be utilized in the creation of a credit-based, robotic welding certificate at NCTC. Arctic Cat Inc. and NCTC view the "Partnership Project" as an opportunity to expand and recruit employees to Northwestern Minnesota.
"Arctic Cat is very pleased with the results of the training that Northland Community and Technical College provided. It was excellent. It allowed personal, hands-on training for our individuals both at our facilities as well as the colleges. It avoided the need to send our individuals to off-site training areas. It was focused and tenacious." Ron Ray, Vice President of Manufacturing
