The 2007 Motorcycle Training Schedule is available!
Northland's Center for Outreach & Innovation is once again offering motorcycle training throughout the region on various dates this spring. Two levels of training will be available.
Basic Rider Course (BRC)
The BRC offers the most complete motorcycle training available with 4.5 hours in the classroom and 10 hours of practice on a training motorcycle. This course concentrates on motorcycle familiarization, clutch control, throttle control, riding posture, and the four basic skills: straight-line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping; and includes limited-space maneuvers, countersteering, cornering, and swerving. Minnesota law requires motorcyclists under age 18 to pass this course before obtaining their permit. Students must furnish protective clothing and DOT-approved helmet. Motorcycles are furnished.
Experienced Rider Course (ERC)
This course is for experienced riders. The classroom discussion covers perception and hazard awareness, riding strategy, traction, and risk management. Braking, cornering, and swerving techniques are practiced during the on-cycle exercises. We recommend that you have at least one year or 1000 miles riding experience.
Northland is offering these courses in 2 locations: Bemidji and Thief River Falls.
