THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN. (Nov. 14, 2011) – Northland Community and Technical College – Northland’s men’s baseball and women’s softball and basketball teams hosted a Rake-A-Thon event on October 17th in the Thief River Falls community.

The Pioneer athletes from Northland’s men’s baseball and women’s softball and basketball teams held a Rake-A-Thon in which they volunteered their yard raking services to community members in need of help or assistance in cleaning up their yard this fall. The athletes will use the donations offered by the community for their raking services as a fundraiser to supplement the costs of their programs.

“The Rake-A-Thon is a service project done by the baseball, basketball, and softball teams. We’ve done it for years for the elderly and handicapped at no cost to them. We send out flyers to the community and to churches to let them know when the Rake-A-Thon will take place.” Kathy Huschle, assistant softball coach.
