Northland Hosting Homecoming Saturday, October 1

THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN (Monday, September 26, 2011) Northland Community & Technical College (Northland) Pioneers will be hosting its fall homecoming on Saturday, October 1. Homecoming activities include a 5k & 10k run, walk and rollerblade; a volleyball game; and a football game.
The Pioneer Run 5k & 10k Run, Walk, and Roll event is sponsored by the Northland Community & Technical College Foundation. It begins with check-in and registration at 8:30 am outside of the Orley Gunderson Commons. Information, costs and online pre-registration are available at www.nctcfoundation.com. All participants will receive a free lunch and free admission to both of Northlandís homecoming games. The event will be held rain or shine.
The Northlandís Pioneer volleyball team will be hosting Itasca Community College at noon in Northlandís gymnasium. The Pioneers are having one of their best years ever with a 13-1 record. They are currently ranked seventh in the nation in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings.

Northlandís Pioneer football team hosts Fond du Lac Community College at 3:00 pm at Lowell T. Swenson Field. The Pioneer football team is currently 2-2 with a two game winning streak.

The Northland Athletic Department welcomes talented athletes from the local area, as well as nationally and internationally. The departmentís mission is to enhance and support the intellectual mission of the college and its academic standards and practices. The Pioneer coaching staff encourages student athletes to get involved in the college and community, and many student athletes participate in campus organizations and community service groups. Pioneer athletes and teams are also recognized annually for their outstanding academic achievements.
