Northland Football Coaches Named MCAC Division Coaches of the Year

The Pioneer Football coaching staff was named the coaches of the year for the MCAC Northern Conference.

Before stepping down as the head football coach, Guy Finstrom led the Pioneers to a 4 W 2 L record. Northland named Tony Wiseth, Northland’s assistant football coach and offensive coordinator, as interim head coach through the rest of this season. Other coaches on the staff had to take on more responsibilities as well. Jon Drees took over as Northland’s Defensive Coach, Aric Broden worked with the offensive and defensive lines and Grant Conway helped with the running backs. Also Ben Thorstad, who was a student assistant helped out with the defense.

Northland went on to a 2 W and 2 L record after the resignation and made it to the MCAC State Semi Finals. Northland lost in the Semi Finals to Central Lakes by a score of 13 to 19.

“We are very proud of all the coaches and the team for the season they had. I would like to thank all of the coaches for the hard work they put in and for the difficult situations that they faced this season,” said Northland Athletic Coordinator Paul Peterson.
