Evje, Pioneers earn NJCAA honors

Tara Evje of Northland Community and Technical College was recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for academic honors achieved during the 2013-2014 school year, it was announced this week by NCTC officials.
A Fosston native, Evje was presented with the NJCAA Student-Athlete Award – previously recognized as Academic All- America honors.
Evje earned the Superior Academic Achievement Award for student-athletes who have completed three full-time semesters with a grade point average between 3.80 and 3.99.
She was a member of the Pioneers’ volleyball and softball teams last season and will be continuing her education at Northland in the nursing program.
All three of Northland’s women’s intercollegiate athletic programs were among the teams recognized with a GPA over 3.00 recognized by the NJCAA. The Pioneers’ volleyball team had a 3.14 figure, women’s basketball 3.12 and softball 3.03.
The 2013-2014 season marked the 31st year the NJCAA has recognized the success of its student-athletes in the classroom. With minimal changes, the NJCAA academic awards program has been in place since 1983.
