Shawn Johnson Football All American

THIEF RIVER FALLS, MINN. (Dec. 14th, 2012) – The National Junior College Athletic Conference has recognized Shawn Johnson as 1st Team All American in Division III Football.

Players are selected based on their statistics and the role they play in their team’s success. Johnson, was a sophomore linebacker for the Northland Pioneer football team which were Co Northern Division champions this year, and made it to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Semi Finals where their season was ended by Central Lakes Community College. Shawn was named MCAC 1st Team All Division, All Region 13 Football Team, named defensive player of the year for the Minnesota Athletic Conference and now being named NJCAA All American first team. This season Johnson led the NJCAA football in tackles with 144 and also added 6.5 sacks and 2 interceptions..

Johnson is a 2011 graduate of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School in Glyndon, MN. He is the son of Dennis and Eileen Johnson of Glyndon, MN. “When I saw Shawn play in HS I was convinced he was one of those special players and I wanted to have him in our program. Shawn is a blue collar player, he shows up everyday, practices hard, and then on game day he plays like this is the last game he will ever play. He leaves everything he has on the field”. says Head Football Coach Merle Jonson. Johnson is continuing in the Criminal Justice program at Northland and is keeping his options open at this time.
