Three local baseball players sign baseball letters of intent
Northland College Head Baseball Coach, Barry Dowers has landed three local recruits to play baseball for the Pioneers next season.
Steven Lyseng, a senior at Fosston High School, is a center fielder and pitcher. He is currently batting .500 on the year out of the lead-off spot in Fosston’s batting order and has 1 HR to go along with 12 stolen bases. “Steven is one of the top prospects in northern Minnesota,” Dowers said. “He will help us improve our offense, defense, team speed, and will add a power arm to our pitching staff. We’re excited to be able to add him to our team and see him continue to grow and develop.”
Gavin Ross, also a senior at Fosston High School, is a 1st baseman and left handed pitcher currently batting .550 with 2 HR and 5 extra base hits. “We are thrilled to be adding Gavin to our team,” Dowers said. “He brings another great bat to our lineup and will really help our pitching staff. I don’t think he has come close to reaching his full potential yet. We have very high expectations for him.”
Shawn Storey, a senior at Warroad Senior High School, is a right handed hitting OF currently batting .357 with 1 HR and 9 RBI’s. He is a two-year starter for the Warroad Warriors varsity squad. “Shawn is a big strong kid who hits in the middle of his team’s lineup for a reason,” said Coach Dowers. “We’re hoping he can jump right in as a freshman and add a big bat to our lineup. We expect to see great things out of this young man.”
