Military Families Career & College Day

The focus of Military Families Career & College Day is intended to present new college and career pathways for military service members and their families.

In collaboration with the Grand Forks Air Force Base, Northland Community & Technical College will be hosting its first ever Military Families Career & College Day at the East Grand Forks campus. The focus of Military Families Career & College Day is intended to present new college and career pathways for military service members and their families.

This free event will take place Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and will provide an in-depth look at the many services and programs provided by Northland. Visit with faculty and staff representing many academic departments and learn about Northland's programs and degrees, as well as resources that support students' academic success.

The morning's activities will include campus tours and special information sessions. See below for a sample program. (subject to change)

Welcome from the President - Dennis Bona, NCTC President

9:15 AM - 9:30 AM

Guest Speaker - Michael Ortiz, US Air Force Veteran & current NCTC Practical Nursing student

9:30 AM - 9:50 AM

Getting Started at Northland! - This session will provide an overview of programs offered at NCTC, next steps for admission, student services and other support programs, financial aid and scholarships, and much more!

9:50 AM - 10:00 AM

Start Here, Graduate and Transfer Anywhere! - Many Northland graduates transfer to a four-year college. Find out about resources to assist with a seamless transfer to the institution of your choice. Find out why so many students are starting at Northland to begin their 4-year degree.

10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

Academic Program Breakout Sessions & Tour - Meet with program faculty and learn about program instruction and career possibilities.

 

10:50 AM - 11:00 AM

Welcome from the City of East Grand Forks - Steven Gander, EGF Mayor

Fun for the Family



Service members who wish to attend with their families are welcome to come and have a little creative fun with free childcare activities facilitated by NCTC Early Childhood Education program faculty and students. Enjoy exploring the college while your children discover a world of wonders, delights, and hands-on activities by exploring the Early Childhood Education lab designed just for children. They will learn and have fun together by participating in dramatic play, creating science experiments (live volcano), make-and-take art activities, story time, puppets, and more.

The brand new campus gymnasium will also be available for older children featuring basketball, parachute, games, and other planned activities.
